And if you're here, you're probably looking for a way to support breast health beyond the standard self-checks or mammograms. Previously, we've talked about the ways healthy lymph flow impacts breast health, and maybe you've tried a lymphatic breast massage. Let's add another player to the game: your liver. The liver is your body’s all-star filter, working hard to remove toxins and keep hormones, like estrogen, in check. That's super important because too much estrogen increases the risk of certain breast cancers.


So, how can we give our liver some love? Enter your liver’s new best friend: castor oil packs. Applying castor oil over your liver and breasts helps support lymph flow, hormone balance, and breast health. If you’re thinking, castor oil packs are messy or time-consuming, don’t worry, I’ve got your back. I will explain why they're important for breast health and share some tips to make them easy and mess-free.


Why Liver Health Matters for Breast Health

Your liver isn’t just a background player; it’s a full-on MVP when it comes to breast health. Acting as your body’s filter, the liver clears out toxins from your blood and lymph, which would otherwise stagnate and affect breast health.


But it doesn’t stop there. For women, one of the liver’s most important roles is managing hormone levels, especially estrogen. While estrogen is essential, having too much of it can increase the risk of certain breast cancers. The liver breaks down and clears excess estrogen, helping keep your hormone levels healthy.


When your liver is supported, everything else flows more smoothly, literally! A healthy liver means less stagnation, better lymphatic flow, and more balanced hormones, all of which are essential for long-term breast health.


Health Benefits of Castor Oil Packs

Castor oil packs are one of those "grandma knew best" tricks that do wonders for liver health. When applied over the liver, a castor oil pack boosts circulation and helps your lymphatic system do its thing, clearing out toxins and supporting overall detox. Castor oil has natural anti-inflammatory benefits, which means less stress on the liver and better detoxification. It also stimulates the immune system, helping your body remove unhealthy cells.


The Easiest Castor Oil Pack

Forget the messy, complicated versions you might’ve heard about—this is my go-to method for keeping castor oil packs easy and manageable:

  1. Grab Your Supplies You’ll need a high-quality cold-pressed castor oil, a soft cloth (organic if possible), and a heating pad or hot water bottle.

  2. Apply the Oil Rub about a quarter-sized amount of castor oil over the liver area (on top of the ribs below your right breast). You can also apply some over the lower abdomen. There is an extensive lymph system located there.

  3. Layer Up and Heat It Place the cloth over the oiled area. The purpose of the cloth is to keep the oil from getting everywhere. Then, set your hot water bottle or heating pad on top. The gentle heat helps the oil soak in more deeply, enhancing its detoxifying effect.

  4. Relax and Let It Work Ideally, you’d leave the pack on for about an hour. But if finding a spare hour sounds unrealistic, try my trick: apply the pack before bed. You’ll get all the benefits while you sleep. That way, you can get a liver detox no matter how busy your schedule is. Aim for at least once a week, but with this bedtime trick, you can fit in 2–3 times a week.


Extra Tips for Getting the Most Out of Your Castor Oil Pack Routine

  • Breast Massage Castor oil isn’t just for the liver! You can also apply it directly to the breasts to gently nudge your lymphatic flow. Here’s what I like to do: after applying the oil to my liver, I take a bit more and use it to do a lymphatic breast massage.

  • Make It Cozy Especially as the weather cools, castor oil packs can become a cozy, relaxing part of your routine. Wrap up in a blanket, set your heating pad, and let the warmth work its magic.


Adding castor oil packs to your routine is a simple, cozy way to support your liver and boost your breast health. Even if life’s busy, with the bedtime trick, it’s easy to fit in 2–3 sessions a week. So, grab your oil, get comfy with a heating pad, and let this little ritual become a relaxing part of your self-care.
